While the circumstances behind the composition of Johann
Pachelbel’s Canon and Gigue in D remain vague to music historians, the
17th-century German composer would have been delighted to know that, three
centuries later, the Canon had become a beloved piece of classical music.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Christmas Canon Rock" is based on the music - wonder what old Pac would think of that? - and they are currently in the final weeks of their 2018 US Christmas tour.
