I was in a farmhouse in Maine, on the mouth of the Penobscot River. My two oldest children were very young, but we woke them from a sound sleep so they could witness our American astronauts walking on the moon. It is a night I will never forget.
I was in an all girls Catholic high school as a freshman! Sigh! What a magnificent accomplishment! I love those heroes that forged into space! In my hometown of Pueblo, Colorado in the Belmont subdivision there are several streets names after these famous moonwalkers! I love the moon and I often think about these brave heroes making their trek into the unknown. Good report!
I was the caregiver for an elderly woman who had dementia. For whatever reason, she was fascinated with the nearly round-the-clock television coverage of the event (a novelty back in 1969!). It was a thrill for sure!
