My Subway is short

When is a Footlong not a foot long? The answer, apparently, is when it’s a Subway sandwich. It seems these tasty, elongated snacks haven’t been measuring up to vigilant customers’ expectations lately.

Armed with their trusty yardsticks, pernickety patrons aross the country have resolutely sunk the Sub’s promotional promise of being one foot long (or exactly 12 inches for the dimensionally challenged). Many of the $5 Subway sandwiches have been “weighing in” at a stunted 11 inches.

As a woman, being lied to about size isn't anything new. You shrug, stick it in your mouth... or not, and move on.

I can't believe that the company that made Jared famous would do this to us. Oh, to what great depths these mortals fall.

I haven't had a Sub for a long time. Maybe I should have one soon. And take along my tape measure.
Thanks for stopping in at my blog.

I read about that awhile ago and I THOUGHT this might be your post when I saw the title; too funny!

It never would've occured to me to measure my sub.

What a fun post!

Judie said...

Why is it my footlong never looks like the one in the ad???? I wouldn't care if it was only 11 inches long if it actually had as much stuff inside as the photo shows!!!

VBR said...

I confess, I have never eaten a Subway sandwich. I think one of the reasons is as Judie just mentioned - they never look like they do in the commercials.

Stacia said...

I bet if you just smoosh it down a little bit, you'll get that extra inch. Ha!

I had a Sub a few days ago and thought briefly about measuring it... but I took a bite instead!

Hah! Oh Vapid Vixen, you are absolutely hysterical!

What the hell! I have never thought to measure it. The nerve.

My post if you want to check it out is

The Subway story was on television here too. I think people who measure sandwiches have too much time on their hands.

Jane said...

Lol!! I love & second Peg's comment :)

It does annoy me though that the hamburgers in commercials are always stacked mile-high - and so are the KFC buckets.

Ah! It would be a nightmare if I found this out when I was still pregnant and used to crave for subway! I will surely make a fuss! :)
Such a fun post by the way:)

Well, I stick to the 6 inch and it's more than enough for me♫ Subway will adjust their product and be fine. Here's my M effort: http://lmkazmierczak.blogspot.com/2013/02/mosaic-mosaic.html

I don't care about that. I care that a half gallon of ice cream is one and a half quarts now. Did they think I wouldn't notice? Fie.

Only ten herbs and spices in the Colonel's recipe? I hope that it never comes to that. Great to meet you Nick!

I am laughing pretty hard over Vapid Vixen's comment!

This is really amusing!

We rarely eat there, but I'm tempted to whip out my little tape measure next time just to be irritating!

Thanks for a fun link.
